Exeter and South Devon Deaf Children’s Society thank you wall.
Deaf Children’s Christmas Party, at Torbay Leisure Centre, Sat 14thDecember
I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of Exeter & South Devon Deaf Children’s Society, for all those who gave their time so freely on Saturday, and especially to the sponsors, WBW Solicitors (http://www.wbw.co.uk/), who very generously funded the event.
The children’s Christmas party was a complete success. Without exception, every family approached me to pass their thanks, saying how much fun their children had. We are all delighted that the children had access to so many activities; archery, badminton, football, golf, inflatables and many more.
As a parent of a deaf child myself, I am all too familiar with the heartache and distress that is experienced upon diagnosis. There is often a feeling of despair; not knowing who to go to for support, and worrying about your child’s future. It has a big impact on the entire family. It is through events such as these that the society is able to offer support to families with deaf children. It gives parents, in similar situations, the chance to talk freely and seek advice. Also by encouraging children to participate in these kind of activities, it boost’s their own communication skills, confidence and self-esteem. It gives them a sense of belonging, knowing they feel part of the group, and access to activities they may not ordinarily have the opportunity to experience.
So once again, a huge thank you to all that have given so generously, Bobby for organising, the volunteers on the day running the activities, and also WBW Solicitors for their generous donation, paying for the entire event.
